Getting droning sound - wheel bearings?

Cars just developed a speed related droning sound, seems to be from the front and worse when turning left at speed. No difference when braking. Does this sound like a wheel bearing issue (had one go on previous B6 at around the same 130k mileage).
If so is this a DIY job or is it a real pig. Remember the garage had a nightmare doing it on my previous B6, but they weren't a VAG specialist. Any pointers?

Possibly wheel bearing.Jack up car and spin wheel, also check for play.If u don't have the tools for the job, better off bring to a mechanic.

Does sound like a wheel bearing, but are the tyres worn? If its definitely louder when turning, then it probably is a wheel bearing.

It's a pig of a job unfortunately, you do need a good press and the relevant sleeves.

The main problem is that the multi link suspension has to come apart to remove the bearing carrier, and this will likely be all corroded and the bolts will be stuck and/or shear.

Both garages I had my fronts done on (a couple of thousand miles apart) ended up replacing the multi link bolts, and various bits were seized together due to galvanic corrosion etc.

It was about £120 quid a side at the independents I went to.

Sounds like a trip to a VAG specialist, £120 sounds like a bargain vs all the misery of taking the suspension apart (went through that with my B5, twice).
I've just replaced the missus, so don't think it's that (yet) unless I've got a duff one!
