Hi guys,

There seems to be an issue with my Audi (A4 Avant Sport 1.9 TDI 130 2002) whereby the engine fan is ALWAYS on. Even when I first start the car in the morning the fan comes on immediately. Also, if I turn the key to the on position without starting the engine the fan also starts and stays on throughout the journey until I literally switch off the ignition. The temp gauge is working fine. I'm guessing there's a sensor or something that is giving incorrect feedback regarding engine temperature. Any ideas what might be wrong? I hope I have explained this alright!

Thanks in advance for any assistance/ideas :)

There's two fans iirc. The viscous fan is temp dependant and the electric fan runs with the air con. I think thats the case, maybe someone can confirm.

Try GFS or TPS (Trade Parts Specialists) for prices.

Hi guys,

I've got the replacement ECT (Electronic Coolant Temperatue) sensor however, I cannot find the ECT! I've read some guides with pics attached but I still cannot find the actual ECT anywhere in the engine compartment. Any ideas where this is located in an Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDI Sport (B6)? Thanks!

Its right at the back of the engine near the bulkhead.
Right pain to get to and has a plastic clip holding it in.
Look down from the drivers side and you should see a dark green plug.

Its a good idea to have the new one handy, so as not to loose all the water.
