so dose any one no witch one it is and where the Actuating Motor for Temperature Flap; Left its the only code being show as a fault on my aircon although im not sure how this would stop it from working but worth a try

that flap wont stop it working
but take the glovebox out and you will see them
they have diffrent coloured arms but test them you will see the 1 thats not moveing
could just be jammed

It's probably one of these in this picture Simon, but as mentioned I doubt that would make the aircon u/s.

Remind me again of the symptoms and what you've had one to the car?

hey james its funny really when i first put the car on i can not get the eco button to go off but i drive for say 30mins or so turn the car off and the next time i start the car i can turn the eco on and off all day long yet no aircon the compriser is not coming on ether nore is the rad fan witch im told should to cool it all down the vicas fan is on all the time thought

The viscous fan should be on all the time, you can check it using a rolled up newspaper by holding it in the fan to try and stop it rotating when the engine is cold, if you cant stop it then the coupling is not good. the rad fan will only come on when it heats up past 90 and then go off again when it cools down to 90.What have you done or changed when trying to fix this? any sensors etc. is there a way of testing the compressor that anyone can throw in?

iv put a new preshor sensor in the rad as it said it was gone but still no aircon the eco light works now and i can turn it on and off all the time but still no cold air

Have they put a temp robe in the vents to measure the air temp?

You've had the gas recharged since all this have you?

dont no if they put a prob in the vents mate as i had to leave it with them for 2hrs or so iv had it toped up before when i first got it and that when they said a list of things it could be i thought the eco light would stay on if it was low on gas

so as swarcup asked is there a way to power up the compressor to test it i talked with a aircon guy on the phone and he said he would power it up and see if it works but did not say how to do it as its money for him to test it :)

Has it ever worked since you've had the car? And did it work after they recharged it?

You're right in that the ECON light will come on if the pressure low, all this means is the compressor is disabled to prevent it being damaged from being run when low on refrigerant.

It might the refrigerant level is just a bit higher than that, but not enough to blow cold air.

no its never worked mate they filled it up and said they took it out again as it did not work and my dad has a can of the gas at home so i thought id try a bit and now the eco light gose off but no cold air. im wondering if there is a way with vag to see how much gas is in there and if any one knows how much it should be then i can top it up that way just to see if it kicks in or not if it dose then id get it filled up with better stuff. but need to no how much to put it as the gage on the can is not very good

I'd not bother with the DIY cans personally.

Vagcom won't tell you how much gas is in there, I think I'd take it to a specialist, I doubt they'd charge you much to diagnose the problem. Even flushing the system and a recharge might help, they take about 650ml from memory.

yeah be told £45 to fill it up but think ill get it looked at first just to be safe just wondering if any one knows a way to test the compresor been told you can send a live to it some how but not sure. also woud like to have a look for a relay im told it has one in the engine bay but i dont no where

You can check and activate all the flaps with VCDS, you can also monitor the temperature of the vents and see if the compressor is working. The compressor is checked by torque and pressure monitoring. I've just got my A4 aircon working properly after replacing a faulty condenser (luckily under warranty) and the receiver drier. Even though the condenser had a small leak at no time did the econ light come on.

do you no what the figgers are mate of and the right pressure ?

Between 8 and 10 bar if i remember correctly. If you get stuck give me a shout and i'll plug VCDS back in a look again.

thanks mate ill have a look tomoz ill note down all the figers and post them up for you if thats ok

so scaned it today and got this refrigerant circuit pressor 2.0 bar
lift vent temp 27.0c
right vent temp 27.0c
lift foot vent 28.oc
right foot vent 30.0c
dash panel 26.5c
temp sensor 3240/min what ever that is lol
i think its safe to say the compersor is not coming on ;-(
