LED sidelights flash on start up

Hi guys I recently replaced my side light bulbs with LED's. The LED's are the can bus variants so do not trigger a fault on the DIS. On starting the car and turning the lights on I noticed that they flash a few times, is this the DIS checking for lamps out?. Also where is the best place to get some number plate LED's that satisfy the DIS?

Mine have flickered ever so slightly when I start engine, and have done since I fitted them over 3 years ago. I was always led to believe its the result of the Canbus system prechecking all the lights as you say, I don't ever see it being a problem.
