Leaking EGR Valve

My EGR Valve is leaking from both sides, do i need a replacement or should i attempt to clean it?

If it is faulty, what problems does it cause appart from a ****** oily mess under the emngine cover!!

Id try cleaning it, then if no improvement replace it. Faulty egrs can cause many issues in the long run. Also ifs its leaking to atmosphere then its like having a hole in the exhaust pre cat which is never a good thing.
