    remap and mpg

    Ive searched cant really find an answer to this.

    Looking to get remap done on 1.8t 150 avj Quattro.

    Hopefully to see an mpg improvement on the motorway, around town its not really an issue. And also the power gains.

    Currently averaging around 380-400miles per tank on motorway (I drive a 500mile commute on the motorway)

    Wondering if i can get an improvement on this to maybe 450miles per tank.

    I don't think you'll see those kind of gains to be honest.

    My remapped AVJ is more economical since the remap, but only by 1-2mpg, so about 20-25 increase in range?

    I only occasionally manage 400 miles on a tank, usually on an airport run or something! Yours sounds like a pretty good one economy wise already!

    yea well im using a whole tank on the motorway so i'm getting the best from it. If its normal driving around town I'd be looking at around 280-300 miles on a tank. I think it works out around 32-33mpg so anything above that will be better. or being able to drive a little faster to get there quicker on the same distance lol. I guess its not bad for a car with 140k on it.

    refueling when the engine is already warm and then running it empty on the same motorway run is always gonna get you the best economy... hell I can get >500miles on a quattro 2.5 V6 TDI with that type of a run!

    Not wanting to rain on your parade, but my understanding was that the main economy gains are due to increasing boost and therefore torque at lower revs, which means that you can change up sooner, so if 99% of your time is spent in 6th already, then you probably won't even get he usual 1-5mpg improvement...

    Yes but Im guessing that it runs a leaner mixture which saves fuel. But due to the extra torque you would be using less trottle to maintain the same speed. saving fuel. Thats why diesels are cheaper generally.

    A remap doesnt lean the mixture off , but more torque requiring less throttle will help .

    ok, i thought that it would lean it off abit to get better combustion to increase power. but not knowing alot about remaps i dont know for sure. guessing being a turbo its different again.
