    Pressure wash the engine bay?

Mine is looking a little dusty. Is it actually possible to just pressure wash the bay on my 1.8t.

Should i be putting anything in carrier bags while doing this or is it all safe? Really want to clean it up and i am sure i have read you just spray it all with de-greaser then pressure wash off! sounds bonkers to me!

    Cheers

Use a good APC to soften up the grime/dirt , then with trigger spray bottle full water rinse the area, this is a nice safe way of cleaning the engine bay area.

Leave the pressure washer out of the engine bay
this can cause you so much future trouble
    with corroded connections etc
just give it a wipe down with a cloth or better still close the bonnet

spray some TFR or degreaser on it and use a low pressure jet wash and give it a quick flick, not spending any amount of time on any real parts, Do you not think that rain water gets up into the engine bay when your on the road?

Thats what I do, degreaser to soak in, a good scrub and then rinse it off with a watering can.

yes, adds up to the same result id say, the pressure washer in the engine bay myth is a bit old school nowadays, Common sense is a must have when doing this area of the car, Iv never had a problem in doing it to cars that needed it, sometimes its the only way to get that result that your after,

I had to change 3 coilpacks last time a pressure washer went near my bay. Wont be doing that again.
