So, on the way home tonight, the DIS beeped and the faulty DHR icon came on - (didn't know what it was at first, so looked it up in the manual when I got home.) Anyway it stayed on for a few minutes then went off. A mile or so later, it came back on again.

Is this a major issue or an easy fix? Please help

I have run a VAG scan last night - and the results are below - module 55 - Xenon range - I am assuming this is what would be faulty?? If so no fault codes found!! Driving to work this morning still faulty, although the warning light comes on and off - but the lights do not self level as I tested them

Any help would be appreciated :) - will perform another scan later today - im baffled!

I would start by checking the level sensor on the rear axle maybe if they aren't adjusting at all

Thanks mate.. I've heard there is one on both front and rear axles that could do with a clean and a good squirt of WD... Will check and report back :)

Cleaned front and rear - still showing fault.... Lights not moving - grrrrrrrrrrrrr....

With the ignitiion off, turn the lights all the way around to dipped beam, then start the car: BOTH beam patterns should bounce up and down to calibrate regardless of what the sensors are doing.

I'd say it was unlikely the motors would both go at the same time, so maybe can point you at wherever they have the first shared component (control unit?) that could have failed.

ok, so i took the glovebox off - unplugged the isoblock from the control unit - and plugged it back in - did the test with the ignition and the lights moved from down to up / level.. no warning on the DIS - but that said it didnt come on straight away before, it took a few miles for it to register, but then kept going on and off... guess i will find out tomorrow on a run... fingers crossed

As mentioned is post #5 there are known connection issues with the headlight control unit.
Maybe removing the power has given it a hard reset it needed??

Update: DIS still showing fault - so I went back to the control unit and with the ignition on, unplugged the isoblock from the unit.. the fault cleared, plugged it back in, fault re-appeared, unplugged, fault cleared.. disconnected battery, plugged back in, fault appeared... so I have left the thing unplugged - I can only assume this means the control unit is faulty? Would you agree? - or could it still be the wiring issue? - which I can imagine is a ****** to sort? Also anyone know the part number of this control unit and approx cost?

te: I managed to get a VCDS scan done and these are the results: Tuesday,12,April,2011,15:37:19:26365 VCDS Version: Release 805.1 Address 55: Xenon Range Control Module Part Number: 4Z7 907 357 Component and/or Version: dynamische LWR D09 Software Coding: 00060 Work Shop Code: WSC 63351 1 Fault Found 00776 - Level Control System Sensor; Left Front (G78) 31-10 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 8E0-614-517.lbl Part No: 8E0 614 517 Q Component: ABS/ESP allrad 3032 Coding: 04595 Shop #: WSC 06435 1 Fault Found 01826 - Sensor for Steering Angle (G85); Supply Voltage Terminal 30 35-10 - - - Intermittent It would appear fault code 00774 is no longer an issue! So does this mean there is a bad earth from the front sensor to the module??? Also is the other fault code anything to worry about? Thanks
