High Oil Usage

Hi everyone, I am having a problem with high oil usage in my S4 cab, it's using between min and max within 200 miles. Surely this can be usual? I have only just bought the car so not sure what oils in there, would using a certain one help?

Also it's going in to QST for the timing chain tensioners doing, would this effect the coil consumption?

That does sound high to me. I often have to top up that much every 1000 miles or so, not within each full tank of petrol.

You don't say how old the S4 is or what the mileage is, but that's really high consumption. I assume there's no obvious sign of leaks. Synthetic can disappear quicker than mineral if you're losing through some rings, but that doesn't mean you should be using mineral to try and solve your problem. I'd get it checked out asap.
Edited to say it's either leaking or burning so getting your chain done won't make any difference.

oh yeah sorry, its an 04 Cab with 57k on the clock....
