Hi All,

I'm taking my 2003 Avant Sport into a bodyshop today to see to some rust bubbling up on the lower lip of one of the front wings.
Am Shocked that a 7 yr old Audi would be rusting, but ho hum...

Anyway, the bodyshop want to order in the paint.
I believe my car is: "Ebony Black, Pearl Effect". (Sound right?)

- Does anyone know the correct paint code, pretty please?
Is the paint code on a sticker somewhere on the car?

Thanks!

take it to audi they should do it for free if its there paints problem as it has a 12 year warranty

think the paint code is in the boot by the spear wheel

Cheers.

Re warranty: Audi told me to get lost as I have not had all services with them, and the invoices for services with specialists do not state they checked car for corrosion...
Has anyone had similar feedback??

hmm thats funny my local said it did not matter where i had it servicsed as its the boddy not the engine but i will see how they are when i take it to them to get it done and to be fair they will have a problem with me if they say no as it is not afsh ;-) as that has nothing to do with it

Yes from what I've heard thats pretty much Audi's standard answer to paintwork queries! Unless the car has had a full dealer FSH not many people have much luck there :)

I've got the same bubbling but higher up on the front wheelarch on the N/S :(

Paintcode will be on the data sticker, in the wheel well and also the front of the service book.

The dealers inspect the paint when they service it, if this is done elsewhere and that inspection not listed then Audi will use that as a get out for not honouring the agreement. Like all guarantees it comes with stringent terms and conditions, and unless you follow them they will use it to get out of their responsibilities.

i see wht your saying may have to lok into to this and see if there is a way around it

I have come to terms with Audi saying no to the repair under warranty.

BUT I'm still really shocked that this seems to be a common prob on a modern Audi: cars I'd always perceived to be built to military grade toughness.

What steel/underseal/paint thickness did they use under these wings lips? Kitchen foil / play dough / felt tip!?

If the wing rust is a common prob on th B6, did they get it sorted for the B7 onwards?

i have to agree with you on that i always thought the same and the saying is you get what you pay for and as much as i love my audi it is not with out faults that really should not be there and its most owners on here have the same problems ie heater motors messing about my widscreen one just stops opening some times and its a glove box out job just to give it a tap to work again there is loads of othere littal things to like drivers door wiers playing up but still love it just not sure id go for audi again

I in the past have also got a bit p$ssed off with the audi niggles and my car also is bubbling up at the top edge of the drivers door but my car is in the body shop at the mo and i have a brand spanking vauxhall ensignia 2.0l diesel to lap around in while i get it back, the verdict is compared to my audio its ****!!
I think we get used to having these cars and so pick fault. But they are still a cut above.

This is my opinion and others may not agree but the world would be boreing if were all the same

Thats a spot on observation in my opinion. Forums have a habit of attracting negative observations about cars as we all come on and moan about them! But we obviously like them as we wouldn't be here at all!

I drive a 59 plate Focus at work, and we get new ones quite regularly as they rack up the miles, and to be fair to them they're good tough cars, but they don't touch Audi's for lots of reasons. I think we take the quality of our cars from granted.

i did say i love my audi and engine whys i can not fault it or for the drive just the niggly bits and would not expect it from audi as it is the top end of the market but iv always liked audi/merc/jags

there will be more than one shaid of this paint coulor so they will need to match it for sure
