tdi "tinking" noise when cold

my car is making a weird noise when cold. It sounds like someone dropping drawing pins on a hard floor but there's no pattern to it. It almost sounds like its pinking but the engine is stone cold. any ideas fellas?

Mine has made this sound a few times when cold. Usually when ithasent been started in a day or two.

i think the cold brings out all the worrying sounds id not worry about it if it goes mate
