Heads Up Coil packs !

just thought id post this
yesterday coming off a roundabout the engine light came on and i lost loads of power
followed by a misfire.. managed to get to a car park and the AA man fixed it
£45 for coil pack
i know about the carrying a spare but it was something id always left and forgotten to do!!
when he tested it it came up with errors on 3 and 4
the error on 3 was the gasket had failed around the No3 spark plug and had slowy started to fill with oil
causing the spark to go to earth...
so
1, im going to get a spare coil
2, keep an eye on oil in your spark plug wells

am i best to just "Nip up" the bolts for the camcover gasket?
bear in mind i havnt got a torque wench

You can try niping them but if the gasket is knackered it won't fix your problem.

I had a couple of coil packs replaced under warranty a year or so back and since then always carry a spare, good job as one needed replacing one morning when I was leaving my house so lucky I had one! Old one Was blown apart so was in two separate parts when i pulled it out.
