VAGcom diagnoses faulty sensor on the injector causes poor starting and smoky exhaust low mpg .Any one know what the sensor does and if when it fails if it causes overfueling thus these symptoms.part costs £300plus vat from Audi

From memory the needle valve regulates and helps to calibrate fuel pump flow in relation to the amount coming out of the injectors, so will very likely be a cause of over fueling. And they are expensive little buggers too.
Thanks James new Bosch injector found for just over £200 due here Mon to be fitted and see if it fixes these probs which have been with us all year
Apologies if this is a stupid thing to say...... only one of the injectors has the needle lift sensor on it, so be sure that's the one you're getting!
Seems OK James cos we got part nos from Audi.Car sb back tomorrow hoping to have improvements all round but mostly mpg Quattro triptronic only averidging29 but the similar manual 36 both with tuning boxes

have you checked the resistance thru it? should be around 100ohms if memory serves.... if its way off or open circuit you know its faulty.
Replacement fitted and there seems much less smoke.Starting OK but always was in cold weather.Now for mpg just refilled full tank shows down to 26mpg but hoping this has sorted unburnt fuel causing smoky exhaust and lets see next refill .Fault code cleared and not returned so seems like we should have fixed this long ago but at £400 you need to be convinced its worth it
Remember the petrol stations have switched to winter fuel since november so the average mpg will be much lower...
Hi guys. Does the needle lift from audi a4 b5 1998 110kw goes into audi a4 b6 2002 132kw.? Both are 2.5 v6 tdi.
