I noticed it was very good prices in that link, well in 2009 it was!
How do you rinse the 10:1 off?
Ah ok so u put it on with the brush and just wipe off with a damp cloth or something yeah?
So today I appled the 303 to the front grilles. I took the main front grill out as there is a little lip inside at the bottom that looked dirty and wanting do it properly. So I had washed it this morning with Werkstatt Shampoo, Then APC 10:1 to all 4 front grilles. And then sprayed on the 303 and agigitated all the mesh using a Swissvax detail brush. So much better. I thought they looked reasonably black before but now they look much better and the mesh seems to have alot more definition.
and a side profile random whilt I was out:
Cheers James, you'll be pleased to know I am spending alot more time looking for some new rims! Before we know it the summer will be here, so be nice to have something by then.
Yesterday I had a full service and MOT which it went through with the only advisories being front tyres starting to get low, which I new about. So I have it on track for 6 monthly oil changes which is a must on these 1.8T's.
Got new tyres up front yesterday. Falken 452, 215/40/18 soa little bit of stretch on but nothing silly,a great bit of Japanese rubber. I am very impressed so far, but only 2 days in !
Tomorrow is the big day............I am getting to detail the car. I have the use of the unit at work, I have bought all the gubbins, I have the the time and the weather on my side this weekend........Will start just after 6am and see how we go!
Got this lot bought over the last couple of months and looking forward to seeing what it can do, along with a huge helping of elbow grease!
Nice little selection of product's you have there. I would allow 5-10 hours for the body and engine bay. Good luck.
Engine bay is done, or at least as much as it needs to be. Not sure I am hitting the inside other than the shuts etc this time aroun, will see how it goes. Fully expecting to spend the best part of the day on exterior body. Weirdly, I am looking forward to it! Crank the tunes up, get the kettle on and get the shoulder burning!
Yestarday I finally got around to the detailing. Fairly dirty but not horrendous as generally I wash it once a week if possible.
First off I went around with the APC 4.1 and sparayed into the wheel arches and around lower areas of the car. Rinsed the car off and washed with Werkstatt Jeffs Auto Body Wash and a sheepskin mitt. Love this shampoo as its it doesnt make loads of froth and the combination with the mitt just glides over the car.
After I dried the car off it was time to clay bar using Meguiars clay. Only ever really used this before when a friend was doing his so had a ittle go. Made sure the clay was warm, tore off about a third of the bar, flatted out and sprayed with quick detailer and then using same Q Detailer kept the body well lubed up, probably used too much but was conscious of not want to scratch. Turned the clay inside out a few more times.
Not as much came off onto the clay as I was expecting?
Washed the car again as before to make sure it was free of any residues etc and then time to use the Mezerna polish and Lake County polish pad. The idea of this pad is to help give a little extra 'cut' when hand hand polishing. This was a mission!
Used a couple of pea sized polish to a foot square of panel and then rubbed to a thin haze and buffed off.
Next up was the Werkstatt Prime Acrylic applied a panel at a time and followed by the Wersktatt Acrylic Jett. I applied three coats of this with half an hour curing in between. It gave a deep shine but the sun went in before I could get any photos, It looks deeper in the sunlight. In the times waiting for coats of Acylic Gloss to cure I wet round with the Aerospace 303 and to grille mesh, window rubbers (in and out), and inner door cills. Cleaned wheels and dressed tyres. Started at 6.30 in the morning and finished at 4.30. Didint get around to doing interior although its done in there other than the seats. Mats need doing again though........

Few pics today in the sun:
Its the cleanest this car has been in my ownership and in fact the cleanes car I have owned. But its a lot of effort and not sure I want to be slave to it !!
Picked up set of 2 piece split rim OZ Opera II's the other day and today trial fitted one. 255/45/18 tyres that were on then when I bought them are coming off to be sold. Trying to work out the colourway I want on these or If I just stay with silver and polished lip (highly unlikely !)
18x8 and offset of 35 fill the arches great.
I love the look and also the fact that it hides the weedy looking standard brakes!
V quick and rough photoshop. Originally was thinking crackle black centres and body coloured lips.........Oh, and those balloon tyres off !

All tyres removed yesterday. Just need top finalise my ideas on colours then they are off to The Wheel Doctor. I have heard very good things about Lloyd's work. Rang him yesterday and I am more than happy to leave him to split the rims, acid dip, vapourise, paint and re-assemble the wheels. Had ten years in the business and read alot of good things over on detailing world etc
Wheel Doctor // Alloy Wheel Refurbishment // Berkshire Hampshire Surrey
ready for refurb.............
So the wheels have been at the refurbers forever, but thats beacuse i have been trying to track down the correct bolt removal tool for these wheels. Seems that OZ never made them available to the public so wheels used to have to go back to OZ to be split!!! Anyway managed to track a tool down but paid £100 for it ! paint chosen is black for the centres and a dark grey which has a warm tone to it to match the warm tones in the Atlas Grey body colour. This will be the lip and centrecap colour. Should get them back end of next week, but probably leave it a week before attempting to fit the tyres.......
Also got on to Audi regarding some bubbling rust on the nearside front arch. It is absolutely miniscule but its not going to fix itself is it !!They took details and paint depths etc and sent it off for assesment. They have come back and to my amazement said they would cover 70% of the cost. The warranty is for rust that appears ofrom the inside of the wing out. Ususally due to arch liner rubbing. So I have £117 plus VAT to pay and they will treat all rust on the wing, paint entire wing and if necessary blown into door and bumper so there is no appearance of fresh paint. They also flagged up the coilpack recall but I know this car had a complete new set just before i bought it some 6 months ago.............

Picked the car up today and handed in the EOS Hardtop covertible I have had for the week. It was painted over at Audi Guildford bodyshop even though i dropped it at Camberley. Awesome job they have done from what i can see. Yet to see it in direct strong sunlight or under night lights but looks very good so far. They treated the rust which to be honest was about 3 bubbles in the paint less than a millimetre across and checked the whole arch inside etc. They then painted entire wing and blew into the door and fitted new rubbing strip also. All for £117 plus VAT !!!! A Right result I would say and the customer service from Greig at Camberley was first class. Kept me informed, contacted me when he said he would etc etc. Prior to this I was not impressed with the Audi experience at all, but this helped restore some balance.

Havent posted on my build for ages as havent done anything recently! Bought the OZ's, sold the OZ's! Now I have the Holstens off and ready to get a complete freshen up and change of colour, so stuck the RS4's back on, loving these much more than when i first had them on! Was out taking photos of something else tonight but shot one with the RS4's on for the purists who are not in to the Holstens !!
Why size are the RS4s on your last pic mate? Im assuming 17s?

sorry dude, no. Other than the pics at start of the thread but they are much the same angle, so probably wont help much. The pic does make them look a bit smaller. I like 18's, but everyone has their own opinions on what they feel looks right.......
Kinda weird, I really like them now!!! I think the Holstens will be ready end of the week , so will see how they look when i get a chance to get them back on. If If they aren't rockin it for me, they are going up for sale. Simple
Holstens back in my sticky grasp today. Gonna let them rest for a week whilst i vist my fiances family in Slovakia, and take in a bit of Austria, Poland and czech as well, gonna be a whirlwind week me thinks !!
Anyway, held the wheels up to the car when i collected them and the colour is perfect against Atlas grey. Pulls out the gold tones in it. The Holstens are painted in whats called Taupe Frost. It looks like a mix of grey with a bit of bronze. pics up when i am back and have had a chance to stick them on, .........little teaser pic for you........excuse the polish reside etc, !!!
Just posted this same post separately in the B6 forum but wanted to add it to my build thread to keep it all together!:
Finally got around to puttting the freshly painted Holstens back on today. I also colour matched the front and rear ring badges, and the boot strip. Really happy with the colour, its kinda a mix between grey and maybe antique gold or bronze. Looks grey on a flat day like today but its absolutely pops in the sun
After alot of deliberation I finally went and picked up a Cupra splitter and made the mods necessary to make it fit, that also got painted same colour as rims and rings. i added a little couple of sections to the splitter to keep my fussy aesthetic side happy!. Couple of coats of primer followed by basecoat. Didnt bother with lacquer as I suspect it might take some knocks so thought I would just see how it goes for now. Nows its on, its easy enough to take off and replace eetc, just wind out them self tappers!
What you guys and gals reckon??

Few more wheel pics with a little sun on them :
Again, the following post was put up seperately on the forum but keeping all my pics together as a record. !!
Bought a pair of Mirrors of fellow ASN member Simon, (thanks again!) and at the start of the week I prepped them, then two layers of primer, two of basecoat and three of lacquer. Having been left in the airing cupboard all week, nice and toasty in there, I decided to fit them today. They have not been polished or waxed as i will leave that at least another week to allow the gassing-out process. Cant wait to get them buffed up but they look surprisingly good for a rattle can and no finishing work whatsoever.
They are in the same colour as my wheels, badges and boot trim.
AND A COUPLE OF RANDON PICS WHILST I WAS TAKING THE MIRROR PICS
Nice. BTW you have some polish stuck between the lower and upper bumper below the passenger side fron indicator.
