Is my alternator on the way out???

    Hello guys and gals!

Under hard accelerating the battery light flashes on/off for a brief moment, typically around 4.5K-5.5K. There is no affect on the power and any electrical systems in the car.

Does this sound like the alternator may have had it???? If so will this show up on VAGCOM -which I'm hoping to plug the beast into tomorrow.
Isn't there a belt attached to the alt, could this be a little slack/loose????

    Many thanks for ideas!

i dont know about VAGCOM, but i think the best way to check is hook up a multimeter to the battery whilst running to see what voltage is being supplied to it. I think it should be at least 13.8 amps anything less and your alternator is shot. But you should do this when the battery light is on, over time if it is your alternator, you will find that the battery light will remain on always.
