    Service trip meter

    Had a service not long after getting the a4 and the garage have tried twice now to reset the service timer and its stillll come back the same after going to '-----'s for the first few hundred miles..

    It will stay like that for 5-600 miles until it resets itself, then it will give a mileage and time countdown, don't worry.

    To do: Replace HID's with 4300k & replace led's & main beam bulbs - Lamin-X tint headlights - Twin Exit Exhaust Conversion - Puddle light and Footwell light retrofit - Rear roof spoiler.

    WANTED: Unpainted standard front & rear lower valance (with twin exhaust cut outs) - from someone who's doing an S-Line upgrade.

    mine does the same
    i think it adjusts the next service according to your driving style etc

    im sure its 500miles or 4 to 6 weeks what ever comes first

    Yeah its done that both times James, thing is after the few hundred miles of '---' its coming up with the mileage and time countdown again but the same as it was pre-service

    are you saying when its reset it is on --- for say 500 miles then it gose back to say 9600miles or 36weeks as its meant to do that its counting down

    i think it is on some if you add the 500 to it it takes it to 9100 miles so its seems right to me mine whent back to 9600 i think but audi have two service kinds long or short so id say it was ok if im wrong some one will happly tell me im sure lol

    That sounds right to me, what are you expecting it to say?

    The standard service interval is give or take 9k I think, like Simon said by the time you've done a few hundred miles it normally says 8500 or so.

    Ah fair enough then aslong is it sounds right thats fine, wasnt due one for 8k when i had the car but peace of mind and all that haha

    With a diagnostic machine you can set them to different intervals
    someone asked about resetting
    as far as i know it can only be done with a diagnostic tool straight away ,
    i didnt actual realise they reset themselves after so many miles as ive always reset them straight away .

    I think you need Vagcom to reset it when it's on longlife servicing, but AVS can be done locally.

    Mine was on longlife variable ,
    but i reset it with the diagnostic machine in work and put it back on standard service intervals .

    With VAG-COM you can reset it for both fixed servicing and AVS.

    vag com is not needed.

    press and hold the spanner button,
    turn on ignition then release the spanner button,
    press 00 button and dis will say ---- or service,
    switch off ignition,
    job done

    As mentioned previously, that works for AVS but not long life servicing.

    im thinking my car has been change at some point audi have it as longlife but i rest it myself on the dash and it come back with 9000 so dont no what one of the two owners befor me did that but shows it was looked after as they wanted to drop the oil more than audi lol
