Had a nice tuesday afternoon, Blew my turbo on my 1.9tdi.

Had noticed a slight loss of boost preasure only about 2 psi! Normally sits at 24psi
Then the unexpected happened!! blown turbo!! Any ideas what may of caused this?
was just changing up from 2nd to 3rd followed by a lovely noise of the turbo turbines falling apart and a mass of white smoke out of the tail pipes!!

Was not a happy Chappy, wont have the car back till tuesday, and will be slightly poorer!!

Regards Matt

Too many things to list what could have caused it??? i used to be a turbo engineer! could tell you if i could see it, at 24psi i would bet the thrust bearing was worn causing the comp wheel to rub inside the comp housing and causing the main shaft to go out of balance! the main jearnal bearings then wear very rapidly and both comp wheel and turbine wheel catch thier housings a nd self destruct! one fault usually leads to another very quickly with turbo's.
