B6 2.5 V6 QS No gears

i was out in my V6 QS last nite stopped outside a shop ,
then when i came out
CAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE ANY GEAR ????

Had to wait 3hrs for a lift from RAC

the pedal feels fine as it did before ,
BUT CANNOT GET ANY GEAR WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING

when engine is switched off all gears feel fine inc reverse
Can anyone shed any light on this major prob ?
checked fluid level its fine

Possibly clutch release bearing failure?? just a thought!!!!

Definitely sounds like a clutch failure .

is there any way can be 100% its clutch without removing it from box ?
how can i check master + slave cylinders ?

THE PROB WAS THRUST BEARING had broke from clutch fork
all sorted £688.0 inc parts and Audi fitted
