Errm I'm no expert here, but it should have a S-Line steering wheel badge (iirc), perforated leather wheel apparently, and also metal embossed S-Line kick plates. They're the things which are often deemed too expensive to replicate.

Were the S-Lines released as early as a 53 plate? I'm not sure.

The engine code will confirm it's the 190 model, hopefully someone with one can confirm what that should be.... And the T in the 1.8T should be red, although this can obviously be changed.

2004 was the release date. My engine code is BEX. As QJ said the S-Line badge should be on most thing's inc steering wheel. Also 18" wheel's as standard

Sounds like a Sport then mate. As has discussed (many times!) previously.... the later model Sports came with an S-Line "style" bodykit including door blades.

The 1.8T's can be vulnerable to oil sludge, blocking the pick up and starving the engine of oil. Results vary from killing the turbo to wrecking the entire engine. Do a search, there's LOADS on it!

Reference the other issues, have a look here ..... link

the door-sills are the expensive add-on people don't normally do: should have metal embossed S-line plates in the scuff plate on each door: about 500 for the pair plus painting, so only the TRULY dedicated will stump up for that!

Check the history of the car, the car should have had a new timming belt (due to the high miles) , water pump, belt tensioner ect,oil changed on a regular basis. Worn suspension arm's.. I would hold onto my money as 90000 mile's is high.... How much is the car.. Check these out

i would have to say after reading all the above the only real way to no if its s.line or not is have a look on the log book
if its not there then its not an s.line and he or she should have no problem showing you the log book.

yes on the log book it states:
    audi a4 1.8t 190bhp sport, 53plate but first registered in 2004
4000 sound like a good price tp pay for it.

i think 4k is good but im not to sure when it comes to the 1.8t as i have a tdi but id pay it for the right car where i am in the uk they are going for far more but dont buy it if your not to sure as said above there are otheres out there for less but if its a good car and your happy with it thats all that matters really although would not hurt to try and hit him for lower in cash ie 3850 ish

plug the reg into euro car parts to see imo.

    http://www.eurocarparts.com

    mine comes up as

    Model A4 T QUATTRO S LINE (B6)
    Engine Size 1781 cc
    Engine Model BEX
    Manufactured 2004
    Registered 26-04-2004
    Transmission MANUAL
    Colour RED

But there is a bit of scene tax i'd say on this car, they are few and far between to find all three in one car, Quattro, S line and 190bhp version

Theres a few on Autotrader but not many.

i bought mine for 9k last year and they still go for 8-9 now even with the extra milage i put on it.
