high pitch whine?????

Hello Guys,

I have a high pitch whine only in fifth gear when I am accelerating or with my foot on the gas. Any clues? I hate the sound of it.

I have exactly the same thing with my 2007 S3, I just hope it isn't a terminal gearbox fault. I will be booking it in for a service and Haldex oil change within the next two weeks.

In a lot of cases i have been told of various dealers and servicers the haldex oil change often ends up making more whines than originally,dont know if its because the oil is thinner or its just good for annoying people
