Has anyone else heard this ?
My dealer says every Audi UK dealer ( VW, Seat, Lambo, Skoda, etc as well ) will have no main IT system from Friday this week, for about 10-12 days due to a major upgrade.
This will mean they won't be able to order new cars from the factory, request private plate transfers, etc, etc.
My new car is due to arrive shortly and I'll have to take it on a 10 plate, and get my private plate a couple of weeks later.
I find this absolutely incredible ( if it's true ) that a major company would accept being without it's core IT system for such a period of time. I work in IT and all implementations I've ever been involved in ( finance not retail ) has to be weekend or overnight, for a car company where they do lots of business at weekends I'd have thought it should get done overnight. What a bunch of muppets the VAG IT guys must be !!
So, if your thinking of ordering a new car in the next few weeks, do it this week, or they'll just be able to take your details and not enter it into their system until a later date.
Doesn't affect 2nd hand car sales by the way.
