2004 A3 number plate not working

As above, one number plate light isnt working on my girlfriends A3, ive removed the bulb holder and tested it on my car and it works so its not that, anyone know what else it could be as the other one is fine.

have you checked the contacts on the bootlid chance are they need a clean

yeah i gave them a rub with some wire wool which cleaned them up but still no joy

Have you tested the wiring for voltage & checked wiring back.

no not yet, wasnt sure if there was any onnections that could have come loose behind the tailgate trim? not sure how to get that trim off it felt like i was going to snap it lol

Well checking the wiring with a meter would be a 1st, then remove trim & check behind, its probably something simple, couple of screws & about 8 spring clips holds it on iirc, slowly prise it of so as to not break the plastic fixings for the spring clips.
