Hi, just bought my A3 2.0 TDI and wanted to know if it was normal to have this hole open in the transmission? Guy at the garage who was changing my oil said it was normal.

Is that a gear l see in the hole?

I dont know if its a gear or the flywheel. Had a feel around the hole and it doesn't have a thread on it so i dont think a bolt was used to close it off.

i have the same hole in the gearbox, so it must be normal

i would have though a bung would go in there to stop any dirt, etc getting in?

Oh good, thanks for the replies guys. Ill hae a look around if theres a bung that should be there.
