A3 2.0 FSI Open door problem- please help!

When I open the door on the driver side from inside the car, I had to open the lever right out in order for the door to click open. Sometimes I had to pull the lever open twice for it to click. It is likely that the cable is loose inside. Is it easy to fix this? Is it a common fault/recall that I can get audi to fix it for me. My cal is not under warranty anymore

What would be the cheapest so solution. I have The AA break down cover but I'm note sure if it includes this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheapest solution?

Pop the door cover off, and fix it.

Should take about ten minutes.

Do you think there is a more details instruction of how to "pop the door cover off" some where? I in fact did call out an AA breakdown service hoping that that's what they will do but the AA man said that I would need some special tool otherwise I might damage the plastic panel? is it in fact easy? or unless he was just saying that because he didn't want to do the job.
