Audi software update......What is this?

I keep reading about an Audi update when people are posting about possible re-maps for 3.2 A3.

What is this update? What are the ins and outs of it? Cost? From Dealer only? Benefits?

I have a 2004 3.2. Would I benefit from this?

The update improves throttle response, corrects a hesistaion issue at around 2k rpm. I got better fueling from it about 4mpg more. The car is so much nicer to drive. Cost about half hour labour. I think its around page 12-13 which has all the info. You can check there and see if your car needs it. Cheers

Look on it as a patch to fix a glitch in a program. For some reason the 3.2 started to overfuel at 2k rpm as it got older. Audi Germany issued this patch to weaken the mixture under light throttle load.

Would you benefit ? Can you hold 2k revs stationery in neutral ?
