engine management light on a 54 plate 2.0L tdi sport dsg

hi iv got a 2.0L tdi 140 sport dsg and my engine management light just turns on and off whenever it feels like it.. is this common?is there a problem?or what?

You need to get that looked at. Find somebody with Vagcom to scan the car for fault codes.
