Fuel cap - what do you do with yours?

I looked last night for this and there is nowhere to put mine apart from on top of the door which doesn't stay on very well. My car is a 2012 black edition.

My cord isn't attached there its attached around the fuel hole! Why change something like that? Just have to hold it then! :(
 
3 S3's since 2002 on all of them I have removed the tether ring. I have never wanted to place the petrol cap on top of the filler flap as it might scratch the paint work. I'm sure over the 70k miles I covered in the last car that's plausible.

I have never lost or forgotton the filler cap yet.
