Spare wheel removal?

Hey guys, bought my S3 3 months ago and believe it or not I have only just lifted up the rear boot lid/cover and noticed a big heave dopey spare wheel in the back! My previous car didn't have one as it was so light but was wondering whether you folks have taken it out? Looks like it weighs a ton! Now I'm not that bothered with a puncture as I have free breakdown when I bought the car and with the pressure monitor I see no reason to get my hands greasy if I do...Just want to know if I should take the damn thing out...for weight saving of course! :icon_thumright: Thanks again!

isnt it usually a space saver wheel? i thought the big chunky tyres cant fit in the space allocated for it?

I've took mine out and replaced it with a can of self puncture repair sealent...
