Before I torch my car I need a little help. Ever since having the gearbox changed in my 2005 2.0TDI Sportback at 67K and paying in excess of £2000 for the privilege, a reoccurring noise keeps happening which, if you are Lost viewers, sounds like the smoke monster. The noise happens when the engines is up to temperature. The car has been back to Audi 4 times for this to be put right but it keeps happening.
The first time was put down to a warped heat sheild between the gearbox and clutch etc. The centre did not change this when changing the gearbox.
It was replaced after a number of failed attempts to fold it back through the inspection cover.
More recently the noise has started again, after less then 9000 miles.
On inspection by Audi the noise has progressed to another plate that is above the inspection cover for the fly wheel. This heat sheild is meant to have another cover on top of it, as with current models, but this one is listed by the manufacturer as not having one. So Audi have put on on at my expense.
I was reassured, though not completely, that it was now okay and if it happened again Audi would replace both under warranty.....No why would someone say that? Because the very next day the noise is occurring AGAIN!
Ever since the gearbox was changed the car has been a freaking nightmare! Coolant warnings, parking sensors faulting, brake lights keep blowing, rear washer stopped working, alternator broken and windows don't operate properly all the time. The car still looks great though.
I would love to know if anyone else has had any of these issues so I can put a stop to it as my wife will have me driving a Nissan, or worse, a Honda by the end of the year!
Thanks in advance.
