Hi All

Just joined the site today after looking for background information. My (57) S3 currently in the garage after the rear axle let go at 70mph last week. Just 50 miles after a haldex oil and filter change

I had been experiencing intermittent problems with what felt like cluch slip under hard acceleration at 3,500 - 4,000 revs. Not sure if the new axle will sort this out - will have to road test when back from the garage

A couple of pretty loud bangs, loss of drive, sounded like someone shaking spanners in tin box! Pulled over and it had split the differential casing and oil all over the road

Ouch! That sure doesn't sound like fun. Good luck, I hope that the new driveshaft will sort out the initial problem.

I'm assuming it's all going to be FOC since a driveshaft should never 'let go' in the life of the vehicle really...
