new number plates

Hi are shorter length number plates illegal ? My car is going in for a m.o.t next week and was going to get my new reg plates made up at the same time , as my new reg only has 5 digits i was wanting to get a shorter length plate made up. will my Audi garage do these for me ? the spacing of the digits will be correct so will this be ok. ive spotted a few with shorter plates , do you get any greif ?

There is no standard size for a number plate. Providing the digits are the correct size and spacing and have the correct spacing around them then that is all that is required. Whoever makes them up must include their post code and they must have the BS marking.
