When l had the extreme map it made 335 bhp and 365ftlbs, but it had a fueling problem and l had it removed.

The only issue I had was it not making the claimed power on what is by general opinion a very conservative (Accurate ?!?) dyno, I'm well aware of plenty of cars making the power on regular Dyno's but I favour the Dyno Dynamics set up as its pretty universal across locations due to its software and shoot out default mode.

A reliable 340+ bhp at Stage 2+ level is my personal requirement, more than enough for fast road and occasional track use.

Did you revert to the 'Pump' file from Extreme ?

    Cheers Spin

Posts like this are misleading as you are clearly speaking from no experience whatsoever. I've had the clutch kit on my car (after Stage 1 Revo turned my OEM one to custard) for nearly a year now and after 10,000 miles, 5 trackdays and one trip to the Nurburgring (12 laps) I can tell you from experience that the difference is HUGE. If you have tried a car with this kit and felt no improvement then there is something very strange with either you or the car. And for the OP - on any topic remap related you should listen to Spin140. He has more experience of the different offerngs out there than anyone on here I know of and always talks sense.

You are making me blush Iggu !!

I think if you intend to remap then budget that at some point in the future you will need an uprated clutch, at the end of the day its a sacrifice worth paying when you consider all the additional performance.

These cars are very, very impressive mapped and IMO a total budget of 3.5K to include all hardware, mapping and an uprated Clutch is not a lot of money in comparitive terms for the perormance on offer, you won't need a clutch at once unless you are particularly brutal but just expect it to be on the horizon.

    Rude not to though

    Hi all,

Been reading this thread with interest. I drive an S3 SB s-tronicand like the car aprt from the 'blind spot' performance lag in acceleration past 5k revs. I have seen some dino graphs of Revo stage 1s and have noticed that the performance levels out at around 6k from what I can remember - are there any other remaps which provide a more linear power/torque delivery right through the range? I like the OEM map whereby if I have it in normal 'Drive' mode the gears are kept low to aid economy, does the Revo map allow for me to keep this mapping if in normal drive, but is sharper in sports mode?

The remap won't affect your car's ability to change up quickly for economy etc as the DSG software is left alone unless you actually opt for DSG software, Revo recently released this along with GIAC, the idea behind the gearbox software is to allow a much more manual approach without the car intervening so probably not what you are looking for.

The only way to maintain a linear power curve high up the rev range would be to upgrade the fuel pump, downpipe and add an intake kit to increase air flow, the majority of stage 1 software follows a similar curve to standard, just exagerated, which is a good thing. Revo stage 2+ and similar certainly show no sign of tail off post 5K rpm with max power produced around 6,900 rpm and the rev limiter increased to @ 7,200.

The beauty of this engine is its dual personailty, drive with a light right foot and I would expect to see no loss in mpg due to higher power/torque at lower revs, the DSG is a real hoot remapped and he difference between that and standard is night and day it really does wake the car up.

Take a look on the Revo site and it will show you dealers in your area, it's well worth a trip to Revo HQ in Daventry if you want to be sure to have all your questions answered. Speak to Kev or Carl, really helpful.

Regal are the main distributor for GIAC down south.

My preference would be Revo as they appear to be the market leaders in all areas VAG.

Cheers for that Spin - I really need to get the midrange power sorted on my car - fed up of having to think about what gear im in on DSG to determine whether I have the revs to overtake without having to ease off it and drop down a gear:-(

The more you bleat on like a petulant child about Revo vs Custom Code, the less likely I would ever be to try it. Fair enough you dont like Revo's trial map, but move on with.your life and don't be so bitter. Especially when the trial is free. EDIT: less likely to try Custom Code that is...

Mine just about made the manufacturer's quoted power on the RR before any mods or remaps were done.

You have to remember that not all cars are equal, and also that after a few thousand miles the engine does loosen up considerably.

Now that all of the mods with a stock turbo have been done to mine,on a Revo map,and the same RR,the car produces 360+bhp....even if you allow for rolling roads having their own problems, the point here is that the RR used was the same each time.
It certainly feels like a genuine figure, having had cars of the same sort of bhp/ton before.

My point about going on is nothing to do with one code being better than the other, in fact if you look at the stated figures from most of the tuning companies they all deliver around the same figures - really only differing on the delivery of that power. The point being the Revo trial code is only partial code, therefore not comparable against CC's (or anyone's) full code; plus it's free so it's not like you have lost anything. But you failed to acknowedge that and continued to rave on about it being 'sh*t'. Your opinion of the product is as valid as anyone elses, but you have got to compare like for like in the interest of parity. I am also wary of people slagging one company off in one breath and recommending another in the same breath. You have got to realise that you obviously know about mapping, but there are guys on here who don't and need objective advice, and Revo can't be that bad if the numbers of people who choose it are in anyway representative of the softwares worth, not to mention the aftercare. That's all. No arbitration needed, it's only internet forum chatter after all, and worse things happen at sea by all accounts. OP: glad you got it sorted in the end.

Quality reply....plenty of attitude and no real evidence or valid comparison.

As has already been said, the Revo trial code is just that...trial software to give you an idea of what it's going to be like.

All of the major manufacturers deliver roughly the same power per software/hardware stage, and it's only the way it's delivered that's significantly different.
