VAG COM help- retrofit OEM xenons

Hey hopefully some of you guys can help me out.
Gettin OEM xenons put on my car shortly, apparently i need to get them reprogrammed because halogens use 55W and xenons only use 35W. Is this correct? If so could you tell me what coding wld be.
I have a 2006 A3 2.0tdi 140 quattro if tht makes a difference.

where abouts are you out of interest & it depends on the xenons you're using, single xenon or bixenon, if latter then there are requirements really to be coded as per oem & module versions are very important.

i think its just single xenon :S
just one xenon bulb

Bixenons are just one bulb aswell mate, difference being a motorised flap moves the beam direction, you should be able to plugnplay but may get some warnings if not coded as xenons, but it all comes down to if your central network board supports coding although you could try plugging in without as single xenons have same 10 pin plug as halogens

yes i looked at the back of the unit and it is 10 pin.
so does tht mean anycoding is required?

As I said plug in & see what you get, but they are supposed to be coded to the car.
