S3 Factory Pick-up?

Hi all,

I've got a shiny new S3 Sportback on the way which, apparently, was being put together in build week 2 (last week, I think). I'm thinking of going over and picking it up myself in Germany - does anyone have any experience of this?

I guess I'll save on the delivery cost (although spend on the petrol/tolls), but, since they give you temporary German plates do you think I would be able to bring it into the UK a few days early and then only get GB plates from March 1st?

As far as I'm aware, collecting direct from the factory is not available to a UK purchaser. I should check with Audi UK before trying to make any arrangements.

I asked the dealer where i bought mine and the answer I got was that it was only allowed for premium models like the R8
