Before i start with the map, the week started with a trip down to Stattler in sheffield for my forge DV fitting, as always i got the usual excellent service and workmanship from Steve jnr and Craig aka Kirky along with the upbeat banter / **** taking. It took them about 20 mins to fit and had the usual chat about mods and both of their bonkers edition 30's that spin in 4th gear!
Before i knew it the DV was fitted and off i went, so for anyone considering any type of mods or general service / repair work near yorkshire i cant recommend them enough.
The DV surprised me a bit, i had one fitted on my last S3 and couldnt feel much of a difference, but straight away with this one i could feel the turbo spooling up quicker and quite a nice noise too, def not a placebo effect.
Back to the remap! I had decided on REVO as my last S3 had the GIAC software on there done by Stattler again, whilst the GIAC remap was fantastic and recommend it to anyone i fancied a change as i have essentially got the same car again for another 3 years, and the hype REVO gets on here just fuelled my curiosity. After a bit of research on which dealer i was gonna use i ended up going with Votex in Congleton as after speaking to Mike for 2 mins i was really impressed with his knowledge and friendly nature. Got there at about 11.30 to be greeted by the rest of the staff who were etremely friendly people and felt very comfortable straight away.
Mike got the car straight in and got on with it whilst i sat and chatted away with the rest of them (mainly about the snow), he informed that it was the newest version of the map that had been tweaked recently. 25 mins later and the job is done, Mike does all the final checks and takes it for a test drive, when he returns everything is fine then im off to experience REVO for myself.
When i finally put my foot down it took me by surprise and lost my concentration for a few seconds! , id forgot what a remapped S3 feels like, REVO like GIAC is seriously quick and relentless throughout the rev range, the torque is incredible and im relieved as i had read so much about REVO whilst doing my research on here that i started to doubt it would live up to its expectations - it did.
So ive now had the pleasure of experiencing GIAC, REVO, and Superchips on an S3, personally i was disappointed in Superchips, maybe its because i like an aggressive map, but GIAC and REVO - there is really not much in it, i think they are both phenominal, top choices for anyone considering a remap.
And finally its been nice to have found 2 excellent VAG specialists along the way in the last few years in Stattler and Votex, especially the former as its local to me.
Thanks
