Annoying whine

i've got an annoying whine at low speed, usually between 20 to 30mph from my 2.0tdi with dsg.
any ideas

I think i've got the same, it's not annoying though...

Might just be the DSG box? I'm no expert though, and i quite like the sound

i'm thinking it's probably the gearbox, but it didn't do it when i first had the car, just started recently.
i will have to have the stereo louder

Jokes aside - TBH, whining noises should be investigated as they can lead to bigger problems. You'd need to let a garage take it for a run to check what it could be.

when you go faster does the noise get louder or change! does it only happen at 20 - 30 mph or is it between a certain rev range? if it is the gearbox, the whine would (i think) get louder or a higher pitch the faster you go. it could be a crack in one of the air inlet pipe which is allowing the noise of the turbo to come out!

i will check out your thoughts on whether its revs or speed , and sounds like i need to check inlet pipes as suggested
