OK so for any who remembered my last thread im comin from a bmw 135i to a black S3 which I pick up on friday. Now there is that much info on here its hard to find specific information plus I have all sorts of ideas. I want the stealth look like Andy on the big build thread however with the odd change.
Firstly has anyone any pictures of these grills installed on an S3 preferably black?

Opinions on these?

Nextly from what ive read the two most popular or better induction kits are the ITG and the EVOMS.
I might be wrong but basically which one gives you the best performance?

Next question Helix clutch of Sachs clutch from what ive read with a double mass flywheel?
Next question Haldex gen 2 controller big difference? my mate bought it for his tt and seems to like it?
I live in Manchester best place to get the revo map?
Ive heard awesome gti are good for other mods but from what ive read revo is the way to go for mapping.
Any other modding info would be helpful like problems I think the general route to go is...
Revo stage 1
induction kit
Exhaust
Clutch and flywheel
fuel pump
revo stage 2
Big turbo

Please dont think im being lazy ive read a lot already and some posts are inconclusive and there is so much excellent information would take forever read it all.
Any non standard black S3 pics would also be helpful ive seen the odd nice one already

Thanks all its hard work starting a new project on a car you dont know much about.

Hi dude, I'm in Manchester as well. Most S3 boys are running Sachs clutches with a dual mass flywheel. Mikey's got uprated Haldex its £1k+ on this 8P as opposed to £500 on the Mk1 TT/S3 etc, so thats why not every1 rushes out to do it! Best place for Revo in North West would be Votex at congleton or ADS in Preston. If you go Stage 2 + you'll be at around 370bhp and you won't need big turbo!

Thanks N8

Cheers mate, the reason i suggested the Helix clutch is because I noticed Andy on the big build uses that type of clutch. Funny enough im actually picking my car up from preston Audi so I might have a look and see if i can find ADS. Does the haldex make a big difference do you know?

It made a massive difference on my cousin's TT. Don't take Andy's build as the bible to S3 tuning. Most Stage 2 + owners on here are running sachs with no problems, matt got his with 20% off!

Ye i know its just helpful when seeing what performance can be achieved, thanks for the info you know much about them grills?

Well thats no good how certain are you? Not that i doubt you but my mate religously believes in that company so i cant see why they would advertise it under A3 if they dont fit.

the s3 has a slightly smaller grill, the grill ur suggesting is for an a3 bumper not s3

Well put...both andy and jonnyc had problems with their big turbo conversions,in that Andy holed a piston whilst the car was in his possesion, and jonnyc re-bought his car from the guy who'd bought it from him only to find the same problem.

From what I can see of both build threads, neither had fitted low compression pistons to the cars, and whilst jonnyc had fitted a catch can etc,I can't see that andy had.

Point is...you can get very large horsepower levels out of many 2litre engines, but there are a few details that may need looking at,and building a reliable high powered engine is as much art as science.
My last properly high power 2L was turning out a totally reliable 440bhp,but had a very long spec list, incl lowered compression ratio, and uprated oil and water cooling......if you go for these sort of power levels,it's costly but worth doing well.

Jonnyc has already forked out over £10k rebuilding his before selling it on....

I bet you miss the cossy Alex!
Yes and no!.....the Sierra was something you could drive everyday if the road was dry!(!) and the Escort just demanded all of your concentration all of the time...as well as a large chunk of your wallet every 5000 miles

Both were great fun but the S3 goes quite some way towards the Escort's stability without any of the warts.

Thats great man! Well done Alex, my friend is waiting to pick up his 470bhp TT, can't wait to go out in it!

You'll have to tell me about that...sounds very interesting...a TT-RS?
