Compartment underneat Seat, Can it be added on?

I have a compartment under the drivers seat, but not under the passenger seat...

was wondering if this can be added on without too much trouble?

Also could I get a key-lock fitted on my glove compartment by just ordering it from audi?

    cheers in advance

I don't think a key-lock for the glove compartment is available.
As for the storage compartment under the seat, the handbook clearly states that they are under the front seats (plural), but there is only one under the driver's seat.
Not sure if you could retro-fit one to the passenger seat.

    The thing is,

I had a A4 estate 58 plate with both these features...

Diffinately the lock on the glove compartment.

The seats are obviously different in the A4 but the compartment almost identicle to the one in the S3

I have this... but its a option I'm afraid...

You can retrofit this... quite easy to do.

    think the part is 35

Yeap me too both seats & also its a possible retrofit aswell iirc from my notes, lock would look ****e & TBH the plastic housing would get ripped open in seconds anyway so what use does the lock serve.

It would deter thiefs a bit more I reckon and would take them longer to open if locked other than just a handle...more time = more chance of getting caught!

No disrespect mate as you live in the capital, but a lock on a glovebox is no deterrant whatsoever, not at all as they know exactly how to get things open in seconds, pointless exercise which is why it was no doubt removed from the 8P, given 8L had it & if anyone's that niave to actually leave valuables in the glovebox then whats that say huh, seriously.

Fairplay, Yeah i guess you have a point, but if that were the case...why do most manufactures still insist on putting them in there cars still till this day?

I want to do this! 8P0 881 581 4PK for black under seat storage compartment, it's the same part for both front seats. I think you might also need retainers to hold it in place, left 8P0 882 621 01C and right 8P0 882 622 01C. Edit, not sure if you need both retainers or just one, e.g. left is for passenger, right for driver, anyone know?

With regards to the glove box, dont alot of insurance policies state that items are not covered if not in the boot / hatchback covered or a locked glovebox. I think that might be why glove boxs are still used.

But there again I might be totally wrong.

    A3 cab?
Looks like the same glove box as A3 on ETKA to me

Ok they are different part numbers but the A3 cab diagram is the same as the A3 and doesn't show a lock. I've Googled and seen some pics with but also some without. Confusing!

A4 has locking glove box, not sure what you need or if the A4 glove box would be a straight swap. You can get the catch & lock cylinder for around 100 but would have to look to see if or even how that would work, I would say it won't though, so best case 100 worst case hundreds, and who knows if it would work in the end lol. Edit - I've just looked at the pic of an A4 glovebox - definately not gonna work lol.

Jeez, don't you know why only American cars have glove box locks? We're civilized over here remember! It's so we can lock up our 357's and 44 mags 'cause you don't just leave a loaded side arm sitting on the front seat for goodness sake! You do the responsible thing, you Lock It Up! That also why American made cars have such massive glove boxes - Sawed off shotguns of course! Never know when you're going to need one, I mean a mad elephant might just bust out of the zoo and try to trample your Dodge!

Glove box locks has the side benefit of lowering the rate of drive by's or rage shootings. It's a real pain in the arse when you're in the middle of freeway altercation and you have to stop, take your key out, unlock the dang glove box, pull out that thing, start back up, catch up and find the guy you're ticked off at! Yep, only us civilized folks would think to put a lock on our glove boxes to protect our firearms!

I thought the glove box locked automatically when the car was locked? I'm sure I saw locking device inside. Will double check tonight.
