2004 Audi A3 2.0TDI Whiney transmission

Hi all. This is my first post here so please bear with me but I am after some advice.

I have just bought a 2004 A3 Sport TDI 140 (3 door) 6 speed. 1 strange thing that I have noticed is that 5th gear seems to whine where as none of the others do this. Its smooth in operation it just sounds a little whiney. Anyone got any ideas?

May trying changing the oil...

i have a spare grf gearbox for sale ..
 
I had my six speed box replaced under warranty on my s3 at 17k miles for whining in 5th gear, have heard of a few others with this issue. When Audi checked my gearbox oil there were metal shavings. I think they said it was something to do with the synchro not 100% sure though.

How much do you want for this mate? I cant get a recon box for £500 apparently but to be honest id just rather have mine repaired
