    Audi Parking System

We all know that parking sensors can be fitted to get the beeping noise, great

But i've had a couple of courtesy cars from Audi now that have included a function that gives you a visual representation of how close to an object you are on the screen of the RNS-E

Youtube video of what i'm on about:

It's pretty cool, and i was wondering if anyone has/knows how to incorporate it onto an A3?

I have this on my S3 Sportback - Maybe you need the DVD SatNav and Parking Plus option fitted - somebody may come along and confirm this???

Well i know a few people that have retro-fitted RNS-E (dvd satnav) and parking sensors, but don't seem to have this option....

Its only available on the latest RNS-E , MMI logic board.

"DVD-based route planning and guidance with MMI control logic and 6.5-inch colour monitor"

The RNS-E that is usually retro fitted is quite an old system , it has been around since about 2004 , maybe even older , thats why there are so many around second hand. The new MY10 are rare as they are so new and go for 1100 +

The new system as said is now the MMI logic board , i think but i may be wrong that you still will only get the visual distance feature if you have the

" Acoustic parking system plus (front and rear)" option, i may be wrong although i think i am right.

I have it and i must say i like it a lot , i also have the reversing camera which rocks , as it even has lines to guide you in , quite useful on a bigger car.

I could be totally wrong but i am sure i am not , the new logic board is also a high res screen.

If your rnse was factory fitted fitted this year 2009 , it may be MMI , when it boot up whats the start up screen ?

Nice mod all the same, the sat nav is a must.

Next should be the RS6 steering wheel ( hi Nath ! ) which is just rude looking

(I do remember starting the whole rs6 steering wheel obsession ! )

Now just to find a way of getting it in my Q5 , i thought when my S3 went , i would be stuck , i was highly mistaken!

Interesting - just seen an RS6 wheel on flea-bay - cant seem to get on with the S3 flat bottomed one. Will the RS6 wheel be a direct replacement i.e. compatible with current S3 s-tronic paddles (i see it comes with paddles fitted) and also work with current steering control buttons etc?

    Sorry for hijack

If you already have the FBMFSW it should be fine to switch over
