    Phone Mic?

Hello all. Just fitted the LED light and map light module to my car in place of the bog standard version. When I did I found the light panel had a mic and some other black box gubbins in there (where the abs light would be.) I was wondering what they were for and if I can use them in any way. The car has RNSe but no bluetooth.

    Regards

The mic can be connected to either bluetooth module or the RNS-E. The latter is only real use if you have a multifunction steering wheel.

Thinking about it, could it be the sensor for the Bose speakers?

Nah the Bose mic is built into the amp iirc, its as Matt says the ultra sonics mate for the alarm system.

Hi Matt, nice to hear from you. If you're passing chesterfield anytime soon I may need your vagcom to tweek my car.
Re the mic; since posting I've found out the black boxes are sensors, but the mic shaped object is a mic. Ifnot for Bose, whats it for?

Are you sure its not just a mic for a phone module , be it bluetooth or the old skool cradle.
As when i did the light mod , i had to take out the mic from the existing ...

Can you see it on the pic ?

Yes thats it, just to the left and a bit above of the hole where the sunroof controls are. You can see the white wire running to it. I thought it may be for the phone, but the car doesn't have either bluetooth or cradle. Is it normal for the mic to be fitted if the other bits aren't present?

As I said its the ultrasonics as you mean the round piece, you can see the white wire links to the main ultrasonics unit that also has round units inside the plastic housing, the mic actually sits where the green wire is on the right iirc.

Ah I see. I assumed you meant the black boxes at the front. Thanks for clearing that up.
