looking to buy some18" replica alloys, with offset-45, but i'm told by Audi the wheels are 17" on car are 54 offset. would the 18's ,cover 3.2 sport back dics & calipers. or what should they be, thanks
45 offset is fine.
The lower the offset the further it will stick out from the centre of the car.
So basically the new 18" alloy will sit out 9mm further than the 17" standard.
Offset can be personal preference. A high ride height and a low offset can give the impression that the wheels are too wide for the car.
After lowering my car on Eibach Sportlines (50/40 drop) I have fitted spacers because the wheels (standard 54 offset) looked like they were too far in. The 10mm spacers increased or decreased, in terms of numbers, the offset to 44.
What i would say tho is make sure to combine the 18" alloy with a 225 wide tire and not a 235. 235 is too wide and is likely to rub the rear wheel arch under load.
As the guys say tho lol! Theres loads of posts covering this topic.
