Over the passed week I've noticed that when I have the light switch set to 'Auto', the lights tend to stay on constantly. They will go off when set to '0'

Where is the sensor that controls this, I'm maybe thinking there's some dirt or something covering it? Or could it be something like the time of year is set to always have them on?

Hi TripleD

On the A3 06 when in auto the lights do go out after some time, the sensor
is on the front glass behind the mirror.

I just had a 59 A3 on loan, put the lights on auto/day time running light so fronts are on all the time.
I think thats right

Hi Trev,

Mine's a 2003 53 plate, so doesn't have the day running lights.
It always use to go off quite quickly, but drove to work this morning (about 45 mins down dual carriageway in the daylight, not clouded) and they stayed on.

Is strange, maybe it's just because the car is filthy at the moment!

This tends to happen when you hasve had the windscreen replaced. You need to change the sensor at the same time.

But if its the original screen, then check the connectionds, or replace the sensor anyway.
