I still have the standard 225/45R17 tyres on my A3 TDi Sportback Sport, and have been using Eagle F1 Asymmetrics for the last couple of years. Usually change a pair at a time, putting the new ones on the rear. The fronts are now due to go, but it seems that I have only got around 12k out of them in total. I don't drive like a boy-racer, or like an OAP either, and my journeys are 40/60 split between good country roads and dual carriageways.

My local ATS guy (who also happens to be my next-door neighbour) reckons that I should be getting 20k plus with the car I've got, and advises a change to Michelin.

What do you guys think ?

I would have thought you'd get more than that mate! I've had 22k out of my Bridgestones!!!

I got 6000 out of the front Conti's on my previous A4.

I got 8000 miles out of the front Avon's that were on my A3 (this wore them down to the metal!)

12,000 doesn't seem unreasonable... Michelin will wear better, but are often a fair bit more cash.

Have been quoted £18 each more for Michelin Pilot Sport that Eagle F1 Asymms.

Seems reasonable, I found Michelin far better lasting than most brands in the past.
