RNS-E SD Cards - deleting the one second gap between tracks

This is probably in the "wrong" section but ....
If I copy individual mp3 files onto my SD cards the playback includes a one second gap between tracks. This is a royal pain in the sheriff's badge if you are listening to mixes or classical music and need a seamless playback.
Anyone know a solution to this which doesn't involve purchasing expensive software ?

Aha now I get yer, cause you started with saying individual mp3 tunes which would give a gap anyway, then said compilation, interesting, have to go test this as never noticed tbh.

Tricky... If the file has the 1 sec after the song then you may need to rip them again without. Mine don't have the gap but it still has a very quick hop between files.

There is free software on the net that lets you crop mp3 files down but that would mean doing that for every single track. I bet there's something out there that can do it all automatically though but all I can find is info on ripping the mp3s without the gaps in the first place.

Thanks for suggestions so far - but I may not have made myself clear.
I am not out to rip CDs, burn CDs or anything like this. I am simply dragging and dropping individual mp3 files onto an SD card and playing them on the RNS-E. No CDs are involved, no ripping or burning.

I'm trying to find a way of making the individual mp3 files on the SD card play seamlessly - with no gap in between files. If anyone knows of a technological solution to this I (and many others) would be really grateful.

This is the most I have found on it:

    http://www.makeitone.net/forum/viewt...05c66d28e6d7d5

It's possible to do but it means using software to delete any silent parts of the mp3 and also deleting the ID3 header as it's that which causes the pause.

Again it means doing each file one by one.

Another way is to stitch the tracks together into a single file!

Interesting because i put queen ..shear heart attack on the RNSE and that has tracks that run into each other and the mp3 still puts a gap in...that arnt there on the CD. there was a guy on dragons den who had written the software to let MP3's run seamlessly and he got backing but i think what he was doing was pretty new and state of the art. doubt thats available on free download :-)

I'd be interested to see that because as stated on the linked forum the gap is down to the mp3 file having a header that the RNS-E reads. Not sure how you could get around that without deleting the header.

To answer my own question (after much research today) THIS CANNOT BE ACHIEVED.
I find it amazing that in this age of technological wizardry such a simple fix is impossible. But 'tis. Shame.

Does anyone know if the 2010 RNS-E supports gapless playback?

Doesn't surprise me. Even some top spec mp3 players don't support it.

so what are you saying ? I imagined it ?

the guy was producing tracks for nightclubs and dance schools and aerobics etc where he wanted to have seamless MP3...and he did it.

I doubt he was rocking out the nightclubs with an RNS-E paddy.
It's the hardware which needs gapless playback functionality.

I thought it was funny. I too saw that bloke on Dragon's Den and his software is "out there" and doiong pretty well. But you need a "special" mp3 player (they get you in the pocket somewhere along the lone don't they ?) to be able to recognise tagless files. Hence Staz's question about the new RNS-E - which mitch78 answered.

The best I have achieved is only when I rip the cd I use Audiograbber (old but free) and in the settings you can take the 1 sec before and after setting off.

It does close the gap but it not seemless... but Ill be damnned if I will go through hundreds of cd's and rip again.

I remember having this issue on my old Gen4 IPOD years ago that I was reluctant to pay out the 300+ they cost at the time but 60gb was enough to keep my collection on 1 device... still really annoyed me though.

The RNSE hardware probably came about the same time as that IPOD and that probably thats why it suffers the same.

All you mates have to do is merge the multiple CD tracks into one mp3 file.

This is a more sensible suggestion than this:-
