    2005 Sport Models

I thought all the Sport models came with front fog lights?

I've come across a 2005 Sport 2.0TDI that has no front foglights, an S-Line rear spoiler, single grille instead of the split grille and half leather seats....

Is something not right here? Or were fog lights optional as well as the other stuff on the sport model? Or could they have been put in after buying the car new do ya reckon?

Few pics so you know what i'm on about

No front fog lights and the single grille, also has S-Line wheels i think?

    Half leather seats

    Rear spoiler

Does this wheel look a litte too far back in the arch, or is it just me?

It does looks like it has been damaged repaired at some point (i may be wrong), it may explain the single grill but no fogs, mind you the single grill is on 2005 cars, so who knows

Nah, I don't think the wheel is too far back.
I think it's the car that is too far foward.

Yeah it does look a bit dodgy.
Fact that it's CAT D supports that. I got in a smash in my old car and it did a similar thing to one of the rear wheels.

Hmmm....might take a mech friend with me to check the underside out

But it comes with 6 months warranty as standard, so i suppose if i got it, could have it checked out and then get anything sorted under the warranty?

Very much doubt you'd be able to get it sorted under warranty. Those warranties are usually pretty lame to be honest.

Can I ask why you are considering buying a CAT D?
How much do they want for the car?

Personally I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole for a number of reasons.... i.e. resale, quality of repair, insurance, underlying problems... to name just a few.

I'm getting sick of my one having a lot of problems, just want something with some sort of warranty and lower mileage, plus DSG is a real bonus for the amount of traffic sitting i do

I had a Cat D before and the car never let me down, as long as they are repaired to a decent standard then very little usually goes wrong

Obviously i would double check what the warranty would cover to make sure i don't get shafted in that situation.

Resale i'm not too bothered about as i will be keeping it for a good 3 years or so, so it'll be worth feck all by then anwyay

I would check for a twisted chassis not being repaired properly judging by the way the drivers side wheel is set back a bit you should be looking to get a least 25% off what a straight car would sell for

I don't know.... I've heard many horror stories about them. But yeah, I guess if it repaired well then all should be good. But then how will you know how well it's been repaired without some sort of indepth examination. Chassis damage etc.

How much they knocking off the market price for it?

As for the warranty I'd be very surprised if they paid out if you rocked up a couple months later trying to claim for accident damage that was present when you purchased the car.

There's a lot of money to be saved in cat D's...... but also a lot of money to be lost.

Very true, i suppose you're either really lucky or really unlucky with them

Its up for 12,000, which is just below average for a 2005 with 40k i'd say. As i said, i'll probably take a mech friend with me who can have a quick look and tell me of any glaringly obvious faults

....and if he finds that is actually the nearside of the car then the accident it was in may be slightly worse than initially feared.

But you're right, definitely worth the extra! If only for this simple fact.... even if you are paying over the odds think how much money you'll save not having to buy a tractor if you ever need one as well.

Mate, I wouldnt pay 12k for that car, no way, its had a smash the wheel looks set back so something is either out of whack or not fitted correctly, plus wouldnt say was high spec, look around more Jordan mate, 12k is a lot of dough for a smashed car.
