Hello to all. I am new to the forum, but not new to Audi. I am living in Israel now and looking at 2005 A3 Sportback TDI (I belive it is 2.0 PD140). I am wondering if the car (not a manual transmission) has a tiptronic transmission as advertised in the classifieds or a DSG gearbox? If it helps, this car does have paddle shifters.

Additionally, what is the reliability record of these transmissions? I am used to driving a manual and am considering upgrading to a larger turbo with the requisite remap.

Thank you

Hi! The gearbox is DSG. The paddle shifters are not standard, they come with the multi-function steering wheel.
I you plan to upgrade the turbo than DSG gearbox is a drawback. It can only hold about 400NM of torque. You can have the gearbox also remapped to handle more torque and a custom map for the engine to limit the torque to a safe value.
