Hi All.
Aplogies if this has been covered before, but has anyone had problems with a rear wheel bearing? Just come back to an A3 (2004 TDI Sport in Mauritius Blue), after going Vauxhall for 4 weeks. Guy i bought the car off said that he nise was a bearing and it ties in with the sound I have heard in the past on another car.
My questions to the experts are:
A) Are they easy to do yourself (and i am a novice)
B) are they expensive to get replaced
C) As it sounds like its the rear, would it be adviseable to get both replaced at the same time?

Oh, and another thing. The reverse light doesnt work My un-educated guess would be the switch, as I cannot find any blown fuses. Where is the reverse switch? (Am I right that ist under/near the underneath of the battery, on the gearbox?)

many thansk in advance
Matt

They are common on the A3s of your age.

Mine had them done at 33k.

Never done a bearing but it shouldnt be too hard a job - someone may further help you on that.

For the reverse issue - Id advise getting vagcom on the car to find out exactly what the prob is - you may have put anotehr blown bulb in and vagcom will show this or the faulty part.

this may help: http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=51508
