Just got off the phone to a VAG specialist and we somehow got on to the topic of cam belt replacement. Told him I've recently had mine done and he asked if I got the alternator belt changed too. (Is that the same as a fan belt???)

Anyone know if this is something that should be changed at a similar interval to the cam belt??

Also, if the alternator belt was to fail/snap does it result in the same disasterous engine damage as it does when your cam belt breaks???

Short answer no, you just wont get any charge to your battery. Its not the worst belt in the world to go its just more the awkwardness = cost of fitting one

You again??? Are you following me?!?!?!? :detective2: :)

Cheers pal for putting my mind at rest on the belt
