    not strictly an A3

well after various posts about what car to get next I finally made a decision last thursday as to what I wanted. I then travelled 180 miles each way to collect it on the saturday without even seeing it or driving it or even a similar model.

The A3 has now finally gone and in its place is a nice red Leon Cupra !

Technically the Leon is an A3 although I like to think of it as a poor mans S3 without the quattro

I don't thin i'll miss the A3, it was ok but for some reason i just didn't like it, however once the prices of S3's drop i do fancy a sprint blue 3 door with recaros and no DSG

i've not done much, just a couple of quick cleans and remove the real wheels, polish the calipers and put some sealent on the wheels. I also polished up the exhaust.

I have a few plans but not too much, but it should be bluefinned by the end of the week and then i'll do something with the exhaust suspension etc

Overall i'm REALLY happy with it :D

Is there no equivalent Seat site? I mean one that's not full of chavs?

There's a huge amount of VAG info on here you're right about that!

I beg to differ seatcupra.net is a brilliant resource, though as MK1 LCR's become more affordable the tits sign up posting up stupid questions.

Nice car though, would probably have gone for a Leon Cupra if the dealer could have given me a delivery date for the facelift.

    Nice new motor!

I had a test drive in an FR TDi and the handling was noticeably better than the A3 with a lot stronger brakes. However, after coming out of it, I had a backache! Sat back in the A3 and it felt a lot more comfortable.

Great looking car Steve. Think it was about time you changed you didnt seem happy with your A3. How you finding the cupra? I'd agree seatcupra.net is a good forum, has a lot of knowledge on there aswell.Ii joined up there when i was looking at getting a FR back in May. But couldnt pull myself away from A3 shape. Enjoy the car Steve, think a black surround gril would look nice ha

yeah seat cupra net is a good site and fortuantly most of the sane people frequent the Leon Mk2 section.

Since there are a lot of similarities between the A3 and Leon at lot of the information especially the how to guides are usefull.

As for how i'm finding it, I find it a lot more comfortable than the A3, I think if i would have got a 2.0TFSi Quattro 3 door originally then I would have been happy but I couldn't get the same basic car again, maybe next time.

The performance is good i've sent my bluefin off to be reset so i'll be going for stage 1, i have picked up a panel filter for the airbox but may change this for a CAI or other induction kit. Then I need an exhaust, either Milltek or Pipewerx, i just prefer millteks tailpipe.

I really like the Cupra, a great car and good value too. In many respects it will feel quicker than the S3 once mapped due to its minimal drivetrain losses but then again if its wet that is another story

I think you will be happy, Bluefin do a stage 3 for cars with fuel pump and intake/exhaust and you will looking at 330 - 340 bhp, at least with following the transfer route the next map is just 50, a chap called Michael at their HQ seems really knowledgeable and I know has live mapped a few Cupra.

    Nice.

We don't get Seats in Australia, but I reckon their exteriors are damn cool.

i've always had superchips maps and was going to change this time, probably to GIAC but to reset bluefin ony cost 180 and it seems a waste, i think stage 2 will be the most i will go for traction is always going to be an issue with 340 bhp in an FWD car !

Nice car Steve; looks like you have picked up a tidy example there. My neighbour has a silver TDi with the K1 pack and it looks good.

I was browsing some Revo figures the other day and noticed that Stage1 Cupra/Editions are 300 Bhp, which is bang for buck if I ever seen it.

Make sure you keep us update on your modding exploits on here.
